Chief Creative Officer / Owner
As a homeschooled child of entrepreneurial parents, Sara was encouraged to create often, and from a young age. A passion for photography came about early on, when Sara started photographing weddings with her parents at age thirteen. Often working weddings in the background, capturing candid private moments. Over the years this developed into niche style of photo journalism and product photography.
Sara attended Pensacola State College and graduated in 2012 with an Associates in Applied Science in Graphic Design Technology with a focus in Vector Illustration and Commercial Photography. While in school, Sara started a freelance design company specializing in branding and production design work. The summer after graduating, Sara found herself drawn back to her hometown in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan where she spent a year searching for a day-job and scraping by with the occasional branding job from friends and family. After branding her uncle’s farm management company in Wasco, California, Sara took the opportunity to travel West and assist the company in a cross-town move.
This adventure eventually brought her to drop down into Idaho’s Treasure Valley, where she fell in love with the scenery and the potential of a larger city. Sara continued to work on small branding gigs while working part time/temp jobs throughout the valley and networking, making friends with a number of firearm industry professionals. With that as the backbone of inspiration, the beginnings of what is now Kitfox started with a simple 1911 illustration. Since that first illustration, Sara has illustrated hundreds of firearms and products for numerous clients in the firearm and outdoor industries, self-published two coloring books, and worked on a number of editorial illustrations for Recoil Magazine. In 2019 Sara moved back home to Iron Mountain, Michigan, where she works out of the same building as her brother’s flourishing gunsmithing and retail gun shop.
Chief Operations Officer / sandwich fingerer
Charlie got his start in sales in 2014 with Verizon Wireless. After six short months, he was offered a manager position at a larger store. Ready to start a fresh chapter in his life, Charlie packed his belongings and moved, eager for the new opportunity. Sadly the job was not quite what he had expected, it lacked the purpose and daily personal interaction with customers and staff that Charlie desired. A few short months after taking his new position, Charlie found himself in the office of an Army recruiter -- seeking not only another new beginning, but to be a part of something bigger than himself.
The Summer of 2015, Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman. After completing basic training and Airborne school, Charlie was assigned to the 2/503rd of the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy. While spending his free time traveling and seeing as much of Europe as he could, and cultivating a new found interest in photography, Charlie soon found his work published in a number of European magazines and advertisements.
After suffering a traumatic brain injury, Charlie was pulled from his line company. Despite several months of speech, occupational, and physical therapy there was not enough improvement to allow Charlie to be sent back to his infantry company. The Brigade Sergeant Major met with Charlie after hearing about his photography work, and asked to see what had been published. Shortly after, Charlie was assigned to the Brigade Public Affairs office as a photojournalist, tasked with covering the units training, rotations, live fires, and Garrison events until being medically retired in October of 2018. After retirement, Charlie wasted no time getting back to work, accepting a position at a Jeep dealership further honing his sales and marketing skill sets.
As the Chief Operations Officer of Kitfox Design Group, Charlie handles day to day operations in an effort to free Sara up allowing her to focus on illustrating. Charlie is in charge of handling client relations, sales, manufacturing operations, and general communication between Kitfox and its clients.
